Color repetition helps to create balance

aodesign11

Long gone are the days of "grey". I laugh to myself often as I find that looking back, we will all refer to this recent age of no color as "The grey period" haha!

The good news is that if you have participated in the all neutral craze, and you are looking to crawl back out of it... inserting color into those rooms couldn't be more simple.

In adding a single multicolored area rug, piece of art, or accent pillow/s you can enhance the personality of the room by selecting a color or two from that pattern and "sprinkling" one or two of those key colors around the entire space.

When you deconstruct a single patterned element, a few accents such as table top accessories, lamps, throw blanket, decorative candles or books can make the space feel whole and balanced.

It is critical though that all of these things make sense with the permanent elements of the space {colors, pattern and textures) if these are not taken into consideration, the exact opposite effect takes place. When in doubt... ask a designer. Save yourself the $, time and headache.
